Outside the Current documents the last water taxis in Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter.

This projects heds light on the daily work of a unique group of boats, and their captains, in one of Hong Kong’s most historic Typhoon Shelters.

Jeremiah B. Palmerston captures the essence of Hong Kong’s original harbor masters. Before the development of high rises, and the entry of modern megalithic ships, they piloted these waters. This photographic series captures the final generation of these harbor masters.
